Bp. Viani Fernando visits Oblate Novitiate

The 6th of March marked a great significant day to our family, the Sacred Heart Novitiate O.M.I, because of the arrival of his lordship Rt. Rev.Dr Viani Fernando, the bishop of Kandy diocese. We welcomed his lordship to our midst with great honor. Further, accepting the invitation of our Novice Master, Rev. Fr. Jagath Anthony O.M.I, and his lordship addressed the Novices in the evening. In his address he highlighted the missionary dimension of the priestly vocation and encouraged them to be dedicated oblate priests in the future. Then we had a get-together to make the day more colourful. And after a great dinner, we said goodbye to his lordship and thanked him for his visit.

May Fr. Hilary Peiris OMI rest in peace

Our beloved friend and brother Rev. Fr. Hilary Peiris OMI died peacefully this morning around 3.30am at Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital, Kotte after a long battle with chronic health complications. He had been getting progressively weaker over the last few weeks.

He was a beautiful man and we hope he is looking down on us all today in joy and with his trade-mark quiet wit. We were lucky to have been so loved by him.

Please share this news with anyone who knew Hilary. Please pray for him and may Hilary also pray for us. May he rest in peace.

Funeral arrangements of Fr. Hillary Peiris OMI

His remains will lie at AF Raymond's parlour from 8.00 a.m to 11.00 a.m tomorrow (31st March). After the funeral rites, the body will be taken to the cemetery (Borella) for burial.
